PAW Media Archive
The Warlpiri Media Archive contains media content produced from 1984 onwards, and includes older items that have been acquired by the Archive. The collection holds cultural productions from three language groups, Pintubi, Anmatjere and Warlpiri (PAW). The collection is comprised of photos, videos, audio files and documents covering life in PAW catchment areas. The video collection contains thousands of hours of material including documentaries about community activities, coverage of ceremonies and Jukurrpa (dreamings). Many items are suitable for general public viewing but some contain culturally sensitive material.
The Warlpiri Media Archive has been recognised as a collection of national significance, and our archival work aims to repatriate historically and culturally important materials to communities from where they originate. Using Mukurtu we will better be able to share these records with the groups to whom they belong.
